Graeme Souness ought to buy him to Southampton in the belief that he was a national team player from Senegel, cousin with George Weah. Dia turned out to be fraud and was kicked from the club..

A fraud he may well have been but he did in fact exist and made one league appearance for Southampton as a substitute and so qualifies to appear in PH. Cannot vouch for his other clubs.

The story was that his agent contacted Southampton claiming to be George Weah. He was immediately signed up and came on as a substitute, and was replaced after 20 minutes after failing to impress. In a poll of fans of English clubs (which I believe is done annually), the Southampton fans voted him the worst player to have worn the red and white.

I remember this happening. He came on (against Leeds if memory serves) then after a few minutes of 'Bambi on ice' he was subbed and Souness realised he'd been had. The whole thing was bizarre.

What's interesting as well is that he said he was Weah's cousin. It seems every time an african player arrives in Scotland they are reported as a cousin of Celtic's Bobo Balde or Oliver Tebily (who is supposed to be Drogba's cousin too). I think Africans might have rather a wider concept of what constitutes a cousin, in some cases.

As far as I know, Dia is from Senegal and Weah from Liberia. Maybe all Africans feel they are brothers/ cousins. Anyway, he was good enough to play for Gateshead in the Conference for a few months

Real (?) cousin Christopher Wreh is playing again, never thought that would happen.
